Castor oil for hair

Can I use castor oil for hair? Find out how some people use castor oil to grow longer hair or to treat hair loss, also known as alopecia.

Castor oil or “castor oil” is a marvel of botany to strengthen the nails, but also the hair. It is an ancestral remedy, derived from castor seeds, ideal for the care of weakened and tired hair.

But then what are the origins of this oil and what is its action on the hair? Split ends, devitalized, frizzy or brittle hair… in this article we will focus on the benefits of castor oil for hair.

What is Castor Oil ?

Castor oil comes from a tropical tree called Palm of Christ (Ricinus Communis or Palma Christi). This tree has the specificity of having palmate and glossy leaves.

The red fruits of this tree are very toxic and cannot be eaten under risk of death. However, when this fruit ripens and its shell opens, the oil-rich seeds appear, allowing the production of castor oil. Castor oil has the particularity of being thick and viscous.

In antiquity, this oil was already used as a make-up remover (at the time of Cleopatra). And in some African countries, castor oil has always been used as a laxative, and to cleanse the body.

The components of castor oil

The main active component of castor oil is ricinoleic acid (present at more than 80%). Ricinoleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid that prevents the growth of germs, such as bacteria, molds etc… and it stimulates microcirculation. Ricinoleic acid is therefore also very effective against skin problems.

Castor oil is also very rich in vitamin E, essential for good hair health, as well as in omega 6 (linoleic acid), essential for the hydration and protection of hair and skin.

Castor oil restores suppleness, shine and softness to dull and damaged hair. But that’s not all, this oil that we could call “the essential” in hair care products, hides many other assets…

Castor oil against hair loss

Castor oil is essential in case of hair loss, or alopecia (temporary or permanent). Its fortifying action makes the hair stronger, which considerably reduces hair loss.

In case of temporary or permanent alopecia, it is advisable to apply castor oil daily to the scalp, thus allowing the hair to grow back faster and stronger.

Castor oil for hair regrowth

Castor oil, thanks to its fortifying and nourishing warts, is considered a “hair growth”. Its results are visible very quickly. After only 1 month of regular use, you will be able to see improvements in the health of your hair.

Thanks to its composition very rich in Ricinoleic acid, vitamin E and Omega 6,

Castor oil is renowned for its multiple benefits for the hair:

  • Castor oil coats and strengthens the hair fiber.
  • Castor oil deeply nourishes dry and damaged hair.
  • Castor oil promotes healthy hair growth and development.

If you are looking for a miracle product to grow your hair, or your nails, look no further, castor oil is your best ally.

Castor oil for the beard

Just like hair, castor oil nourishes, strengthens and shines beard hair. The same is true for beard growth.

Thanks to regular use of castor oil, the microcirculation of the epidermis is stimulated, which then makes it possible to obtain a healthy and dense beard.

How to Use Castor Oil for Hair or Beard

Apply castor oil once or twice a week to your hair and beard. In case of prolonged exposure to the sun, or external aggressions such as sea water salt or chlorine from the swimming pool, you can increase the frequency to 4 to 5 times a week.

Apply to damp hair. In small quantities, castor oil can be used without rinsing. If you opt for a castor oil mask, abundant rinsing should be done.

Castor oil: its other benefits on the skin and health

Decidedly, castor oil really hides more than one trick in its bag! Indeed, in addition to being the ultimate ally for our hair, castor oil is also very effective against certain skin and health disorders in general.

So here is a list of some other goodness and benefits of castor oil:
